Nowadays, everyone is using some device to do his every work. Among them, mobile is the most popular. Perhaps there will be someone who does not have a smartphone.

In today’s post, we will discuss some things related to smartphones such as Stock ROM and Custom ROM. If you are also using a smartphone, then this article will be very helpful for you. Let’s start.

What is ROM?

Suppose you have an Android smartphone then you would upgrade it later. At that time you will have two options of smartphone that is  Stock ROM and the second Custom ROM.

Did you know about the Read-Only Memory? Well, our topic is Stock ROM and Custom ROM, and we will talk about this. If you have an Android phone, then you must update its latest Android version.

For example, if your phone has Android version Lollipop, then it should be updated to Android version Marshmallow, Nougat and then Android Oreo. Android Pie update will be available for you soon.

But the way you updated your phone, whether it was a Stock ROM or a Custom ROM, you might not know. What are these two, what is the difference between them?

What is a Stock ROM?

However, the Stock ROM is an original ROM, which is already given to you in the smartphone. For example, Android’s Lollipop, Marshmallow, Nougat and Oreo.

Which we call Stock ROM and this ROM is developed by Google. In this, you will see less or little bugs. If you ever see any bugs in it, you can report it directly to Google. In this way, you can easily fix these bugs with the help of Google.

For doing this, you don’t need to download any new ROM. You always get the security update by Google. Overall, if you use only Google ROM then it is Stock ROM.

What is a Custom ROM?

Custom ROM is developed by a company or a developer, which is based on any operating system. In today’s time, custom ROM is used in almost all smartphones.

If you ask to install this ROM on your phone, then you have to root the phone. After installing this ROM, all the features of your smartphone will get completely changed which is different from Google’s ROM.

Because the developers add and remove many such features in this ROM which is different from the Google ROM. After that this ROM has become completely user-friendly. In this way, the developer uploads these ROMs for you on the Internet.

Which you can download and install into your phone. Custom ROMs are created by the developer, so obviously they may have some bugs or mistakes.

Which you cannot fix these bugs by own. if you want to fix it, then you will need to install a new custom ROM. But you don’t have this problem with Stock ROM because it is an original ROM made by Google.

What is the Difference Between Stock ROM & Custom ROM

  • Stock ROM is an original ROM made by Google. But Custom ROM can be made by any developer who is well known about coding.

  • If you are a user of Stock ROM then your phone is completely safe. If you have using Custom ROM, then it is difficult to say about its warranty.

  • In the Stock ROM, if you find bugs then it would be fixed by updating new update. At the same time if you use Custom ROM, and there is a bug in it, then you will not be able to fix it. If you want to fix, then you have to install ROM.

  • Where Stock Rom is a Google product that is completely safe and you can believe. At the same time, Custom ROM is developed by a third party, which can be a little buggy.

  • If you cannot delete the inbuilt app on a stock ROM smartphone, at the same time you can easily uninstall any app on a phone with a custom ROM.

Keep these things in mind –

In the end, it proves that (Stock Rom) is completely safe in the case of smartphones. Because in this ROM you will get frequent updates from Google.

But nowadays almost all the smartphones are coming with Custom ROM. If you install an incorrect ROM due to some reason, then it may cause your phone to malfunction.
